Happy Birthday, Tara

Friday 20 June, 2008 - 21:07 by Tara in Default

Tara's Time was today, currently the total raised stands at $11,000 so we still have $18,000 to go to reach $29000 which is the amount required, but $30000 would cover all the extra costs in travel etc associated as well.  We still have a school fundraising as well as not having recieved any money from Subaru so hopefully with subaru's money it should be $12500 at least but probably even more. Later in the year we still have fundraising efforts with the Bushrangers (Cricket Victoria) so at the moment we are trying to think of creative ideas to fundraise with cricket victoria so if you have an idea let us know.

Tara's Time

Thursday 19 June, 2008 - 21:53 by Tara in Default

Well we finally made it.  Tomorrow Tara turns 3 and we celebrate "Tara's Time" we are having major fundraising efforts accross berwick and its surrounds.  Tara will be in the Herald Sun tomorrow and then on A current Affair in the evening. It will be a very exciting birthday i am sure.  She really doesnt understand that it is her birthday but never mind.  I think there are two schools planning to sing happy birthday so maybe that will help her understand.  She was not so co operative with photos today but then neither was little Ajay the two of them just didnt want to do what the photographer wanted, you would get Tara in place then Ajay would get upset and move or you would get Ajay in place and Tara wouldnt sit down, and on top of that it was raining and cold, but we got there in the end so am looking forward to getting the paper tomorrow.

Clyde Primary School

Wednesday 18 June, 2008 - 12:29 by Tara in Default

On Friday we are off to clyde primary for a demonstration, Sean and Jasmine are very excited about this one as this is their school and they will get to show off Tara and Ajay.  The school is getting the children to collect coins to cover a dog cut out to help raise the money. Jasmine and Sean today said to the vice principal that they are going to be Kelly's helpers on friday. He has told them that they can come out of class early and help with Tara and Ajay for both the junior school and the Senior school shows so i think they feel rather special.  I know there will be great excitement from many in the junior school because Ajay will eventually become part of their school, most of the senior school will have moved on to high school by the time Tara reaches school though. Their will probably be more questions from staff here too as it is more real, it will actually effect them in the long term, already staff have asked me questions about the dog being a distraction wandering around a class and toileting issues so I think this will be a really good chance for Righteous Pups Australia to show that Ajay will make their lifes easier not harder.

Leigh Mardon

Today we have been out and done two demonstation shows for Leigh Mardon's Staff who have assisted in printing all the flyers and posters.  The staff have been very generous donating into the boxes provided today.  Boxes are now on site for others to donate.  Tara has had a nightmare few days with her seizures and has been having many seizures that have rendered her unconsious each day, but she takes it all very well. Thursday David had his bike stolen from Berwick train station So now he is forced to walk to the station each morning, not what you want to do at 5am each morning. Then on friday 4 trains in a row were cancelled(after he got as far as springvale) so david ended up turning around before even getting to work and we ended up driving him which is not what I needed in the early hours of the morning. But today has really boosted things, Tara and Ajay really clicked, he was by Tara's side most of the time and even wouldnt budge when Kelly called for him to come and do some tasks and then later when Tara had a little melt down cause she didnt want to get in the wheelchair he came straight over to her to see if she was ok.  It is great to see the bond they are developing, and I think I am getting the hang of handling him now, he will sit for me and go down and wait now and he walks fairly well with me considering I drag the wheelchair along too. The twins got to meet him for the first time today which they were very excited about also.

Tara's Time

Tara's Time is only a little over a week away now.  We have such a busy day that day and lots of excitement for tara too.  Everything is coming together nicely and we have flyers going out to all the homes in berwick next week.  There are a number of big and small organisations getting behind it so we hope everything runs smoothly.  Thanks to everyone who has gotten behind us and supported us along the way. A big thankyou to Leigh Mardon who have printed 15,000 flyers free of charge and are doing many more for Righteous Pups Australia's Autism dog Fundraiser flyers as well, also to Bedigo Bank in Berwick and Berwick Secondary College Senior School, I am sure there is many others also that I havent mentioned you know who you are.

Tara really doesnt get that it is going to be her birthday but I am sure when she gets happy birthday sung she will get it finally.  I best start thinking about her present now.

Take 5 Magazine just rang and want to do a story on Tara, we will do a phone interview in a few days then we need to get some pics to her.  Best thing from my point of view is they will pay $400 which is great help for her getting Ajay.

Cricket Victoria

For those who have been waiting to here, it is Cricket Victoria who are going to get involved in helping Tara. In the cricket season they will help with fundraising for Righteous Pups Australia, ideas on how to fundraise are still in the discussion stages but they will assist us in some way. In the mean time they have donated a autographed T-Shirt for us to use in any way that will assist.  We are ever so greatful to them and are pleased that it was them that said yes, as we are huge cricket fans which is why we went to them in the first place (Tara is a Junior Bushranger so it made sense to speak to them)

So to all the Bushrangers and the Marketing Team at Cricket Victoria

Thankyou and we look forward to working with you.

St Margarets

Tara and I went to St Margarets today to talk at assembly, The team from Righteous Pups were to come too but due to travel problems werent going to make it down in time so I was thrown in the deep end and had to talk to all the school.  The girls listened intently and seemed interested in little Tara, Tara had a seizure whilst on stage, not that anyone had noticed so by the time I actually talked she was sound asleep.  I learned that the school is planing a free dress day to raise money as well as a house comp where they have to try to make the longest lead for the dog by buying a 20c sticky dot to add to the lead.  The hope is that because it is a house comp they will want to be very compeditve and will buy more sticky dots.  Righteous pups are meeting with the state level sporting body tomorrow and if they come on board I will announce who they are, it is only first talks at the moment though, they are also coming down to talk with the bank about promoting us and will hopefully catch up with me as i dont work wednesdays exept for school runs. Well best go my 6year old twins decided while I was out tonight to draw on their chalk board (a wall in the family room) only problem is they got more chalk on the floors than the wall so it looks like I am moping tonight!
